25th February 2025
The Royal School Armagh are now through to the final of the 2025 Danske Bank School’s Cup. The semi final took place this afternoon at The Kingspan Stadium where the Armagh boys outscored Rainey Endowed by eight tries to three. Final score: RSA 48 - 19 Rainey Endowed. RSA will face either Wallace High School or Belfast Royal Academy on St Patrick’s Day. Armagh now have a chance to win the cup outright for the first time since 2004 when they beat Campbell College, having shared the trophy with Wallace in 2020 when that final was cancelled due to Covid. Here’s a real blast from the past… Radio station K.I.T.S. on FM and AM was the brainchild of Armagh man Frank McCarthy. Located again in County Monaghan the station name came from the fact that Frank built transmitters and had bits of ‘kit’ lying around the house. He managed to get a jingle package from a similar station in San Francisco and K.I.T.S. was air from 1987 until December 1988. Frank himself was accidentally killed while working on a transmitter in 1998. Here’s a K.I.T.S. bumper sticker…

Congratulations to the Royal School Armagh 1XV who won their School’s Cup quarter final game against Regent House. Final score: RSA 25 - 22 Regent House. RSA will now face Rainey Endowed in the semi final on Tuesday 25th February - all the very best from Armagh Today!

Last night, First Presbyterian Church Armagh, had the joy and privilege of celebrating the Ordination and Installation of their new minister, Rev. Thomas Moore. It was a special and memorable service, and they are looking forward to Thomas’s first service on Sunday 2nd February at 11.45am. Rev. Moore is pictured below with the Kirk Sessions of First Armagh and Tassagh.
