You can’t say Armagh Theatre Group doesn’t think of its’ treasured supporters!
This Halloween they are serving up the ultimate Trick & Treat (well maybe not a Trick but definitely a TREAT).
Want to escape from the annual ritual of Noisy fireworks? Noisy urchins at your door every 10 seconds begging for sweeties? Ghosts & Ghouls swirling down the chimney? – then the Market Place Theatre is the place for you!
Following a hugely successful run in 2024, Toxic Relationships - the bold, hilarious, and hard-hitting eco-comedy by local writer Byddi Lee is back by popular demand this autumn on the main stage of the Market Place Theatre, Armagh - with a bigger cast, extra scenes, and even more bite.
Directed by Margery Quinn and performed by the talented Armagh Theatre Group, this expanded production promises fresh surprises for returning audiences and plenty of unforgettable moments for first-time viewers.
“Toxic Relationships” – A Darkly Funny Climate Wake-Up Call! Buckle up for a bold, irreverent, and unexpectedly moving theatrical experience that brings climate change out of the headlines and onto the stage with inflatable dinosaurs, celestial sass, and courtroom drama.
In Toxic Relationships, Byddi Lee turns extinction into entertainment - until it’s not. From a prehistoric parody starring self-important T-rexes, to a cosmic conflict between Earth and Moon, to a scathing trial where Big Oil, Industry, Farmer and Consumer face off with Youth and Poverty, this play mixes science with satire in a way that’s as hilarious as it is horrifying.
Featuring a shape-shifting CLIMATE and a Comet with a flair for the dramatic, this fast-paced eco-comedy confronts global warming with wit, warmth, and wisdom. But make no mistake: beneath the laughs lies a searing truth about inequality, responsibility, and the ticking clock we all share.
A must-see for anyone who’s ever wondered how we got here - and how we might still change course.

About Toxic Relationships…
Written by Byddi Lee, directed by Margery Quinn.
As climate catastrophe looms, the impatient Moon informs Earth that humans are doomed and announces its intent to leave, albeit slowly. Desperate, Earth implores Moon to help appeal to humanity, but their cosmic messages only cause humanity to devolve into bickering and denial.
Exasperated, Earth and Moon put humanity on trial, instigating a courtroom drama where Earth questions representatives of different groups.
Each gives their perspective, with Big Oil and Industry denying culpability, Consumer making excuses, and Farmer clinging to tradition before seeing their role. Poverty eloquently testifies to disproportionate climate burdens. The Youth bring hope and call for unity.
Throughout, Moon expresses scepticism that humans are worth saving, while Earth has faith humanity can change. Through razor-sharp satire and earnest pathos, this allegorical play compellingly explores humanity’s denial, then hope of changing course toward sustainability and harmony with nature, if we listen to the voices of the vulnerable and act in time.
A warning and a call to action!
