The first Darkness Into Light walk took place in 2009 to support families bereaved by suicide. Since then, it has grown into a powerful movement for hope, healing, and community.
Today, Darkness Into Light is about more than remembrance. It’s about standing together to promote mental health awareness, breaking the stigma, and showing those who have lost a loved one that they are never alone. It reminds us that it’s okay not to be okay—and that reaching out is a strength, not a weakness.
This walk encourages us to open up conversations about mental health with our families, friends, and communities - just as we would about physical health.
Please make an effort to attend your local walk, you’ll feel better for being part of it.
