The John Hewitt Society International Summer School presents ‘Flash Fiction: Writing Flash fiction and place writing’ with Jennie E. Owen
In this course, you will be introduced to the form of flash fiction with three sessions: Bringing our stories to life, Setting and character, Bringing it all together and finding outlets.You will look at ways of finding inspiration, considering how we can draw on our connection to place, both real and imagined, and how place and setting can be used to create atmosphere and enhance plot.
JENNIE E. OWEN is a published author and a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the Open University.Her writing has been widely published online, in anthologies and literary journals. She has received nominations for the Pushcart, Best of the Web and Forward prizes. Jennie’s poetry pamphlet The Horses Still Run, was published in 2024.
