Armagh Summer in the City is back this year with crafts, football, pom pom cheerleading, cooking for kiddies, dance for older ‘kiddies’, science, magic and music, lots of music. Don’t miss out, spend your Saturdays this summer coming to Armagh. Starting on Saturday 20th July until Saturday 7th September 2024.
All activities are free and will take place around the Market Square, McCrums Court and outside the Market Place Theatre. Times are 12.00pm to 4.00pm and activities are drop in so no advance booking necessary.
Saturday 20th July – Olympics
The Olympics have come to Armagh Summer in the City! Try to get your Personal Best by dropping in on our free exciting sports and craft activities. There are Races, Treasure Hunts, craft, Tai Chi and Pom pom workshops, learn all about looking after your pet at the Dog’s Trust Roadshow, plus face painting and balloon modelling. Lots of live music and fun walkabout ‘athletes’ to get a photo with. Win some prizes fit for a champion.

Saturday 27th July – Paralympics
This summer, the Paralympics are not just happening in Paris, they are being marked here too as part of Armagh Summer in the City! Join in the free Have a Go sports and arts activities: Boccia, Plant & Play Roadshow, children’s dance & storytelling. Also enjoy live music, walkabout characters, face painting & balloon modelling.

Saturday 3rd August – Blues Festival
The 7 Hills Blues Fest is a Council Signature event running on the weekend of Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th August 2024. The event has been running for over 15 years and is a celebration of blues music. It always attracts a wide range of local and international blues artists and bands. This year we have grown to 44 gigs across 16 city centre venues. To compliment the Festival line up of live music on the city Bandstand, we have on offer a Saturday packed with walkabout characters, Food stalls with kiddies in mind, face painters and balloon modellers helping make this a memorable Summer in Armagh city.

Art on The Rails – “Feed the soul art and music and it will live forever.”
Using the railings around the city centre, this special art exhibition has works for sale by some of the borough’s best artists. With the Blues Fest musicians performing around the city too, your soul will enjoy the feast. It’s a chance as well to come and meet the artists. In association with Armagh Art Club. Art works will be hung on the railings on Market St hill. 10.30am to 5.00pm

Saturday 10th August – Armagh Summer in the City
Armagh Summer in the City this week has lots and lots to entertain you. Try your skill at the Penalty Shoot-out, say ‘sit’ to some lovely ‘pets’ as the Dogs Trust hosts a drop-in session for all you dog owners and have your portrait painted by the very talented puppet, Paddy Picasso. Learn a little about what is above and below your garden soil in the Plant & Play’s Wee Beasties workshop. Other free activities include face painting and balloon modelling.

Fancy learning how to hula or to juggle? Maybe even learn a few magic tricks? These are some of the fun activities happening as part of Armagh Summer in the City. Face painting, balloon modelling and live music with some pop-up play for toddlers.

Saturday 24th August – Armagh Summer in the City
Armagh Summer in the City gets scientific this week as we invite you to join us in the City centre for Science Busking. Our Science squad will investigate laws of science using bicycle wheels, coat hangers and leaf blowers!! Plan on staying on as we have drop-in sessions of Dance for older people, plus pet owners can learn lots with ‘pets’ at the Dog’s Trust NI roadshow.

It’s not the end of the summer because we are bringing some fun seaside entertainment to you, all for FREE! Walkabout performers, dance workshops and seaside storytelling. Lots of games as well as face painting and balloon modelling.

Saturday 7th September – Food and Cider
Food and Cider is one of the Council’s signature events. It runs from Thurs 5th to Sun 8th September and focusses on our great local food and drinks producers and chefs. To compliment this special event, Armagh Summer in the City is offering great live music, fun loving walkabout performers, children’s cooking and Grow your Own Veg workshops. To ‘put the icing on the cake,’ we have a Teddy Bear’s Picnic plus face painters and balloon modellers as well.
